Altitude A50 -vs- C50
Summer 2025 - back-to-back testing of the Rocky Mountain Altitude A50 & C50 yielded some interesting results after 4 independent riders took a few laps at our local bike park.
Special thanks to MTBHQ for loaning us the C50 as a test mule.

The A50 had less vibration feedback then the Carbon C50 which makes sense considering stiffness of carbon frames.
The graph below shows that the A50 beat the C50 in most categories with riders noting that the full 29er configuration seemed to hangup a little more on rocks then the 29/27.5 setup.
The Rocky Mountain Altitude A50 is rightfully nicknamed the magic eraser. It can handle anything you throw at it and climbs reasonably well for a 170/160 bike with Assegai MaxxGrip up front and those heavy DHRII Double Downs in the rear.
What we love?
Exceptional mountain bike platform for any kind of riding.
Mullet compatible
Ride-4 chip
Reach Adjustment
What we would change?
A set of Hunt Trail Wide V2 mx wheels with some Continental Kryptotal Trail tires for those pedal days would be awesome.
Wish we still had a chainstay flip chip…
